Many airlines will allow you to board with ashes for domestic travel within the United States. American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Spirit Airlines will let you bring cremated remains in carry-on or checked luggage, and require no death or cremation certificate. Delta Airlines will also allow ashes in carry-on or checked luggage, but you must provide a death or cremation certificate when checking in at your boarding gate. JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines permit ashes within carry-on bags only, with JetBlue and United Airlines requiring a death or cremation certificate. For international travel, you will need to check international flight guidelines for the country you are traveling to.
