Your loved one's remains can be stored in a cremation urn for ashes, but any type of container that you find appropriate for your loved one will also work. Many families choose to divide ashes into keepsakes for multiple households to take home, and a velvet or cotton bag or a lightweight box can be used to hold remains when transporting ashes. If you don't want to keep cremated remains in an urn or other container, they can also be scattered, buried, interred in a columbarium, or even added to a memorial reef or launched into space.
