Cremation urns can be buried on private or public properties with the permission of the owner, or they can be buried in locations dedicated for memorial, like an urn garden or a cemetery. A building for interring cremated remains in urn niches is called a columbarium, and a columbarium may be its own property or be located on a cemetery's grounds. Urns can also be buried in plots within a cemetery, much like a traditional burial.
