The most easily recognizable type of recliner is the lever handle recliner, which leans back and deploys the foot rest when the lever handle on the side is pulled. Some recliners, called push-back recliners, omit a handle and recline when the user manually leans back. Rocking, gliding, and swiveling recliners are recliner variants with additional mobility that let the user rock back and forth or rotate in addition to reclining normally. Power recliners use electric motors to adjust the chair into reclining position.
